Private villa – restoration of a historic garden
The park of this historic villa was the result of several alterations made over the years by different owners. The aim of the regeneration project was to bring together the historic character of the park with a new design meeting the needs of the new owners. As a first step, alongside the survey, a tree health assessment was drawn up as the basis for reorganising the planting: dealing with species inappropriately introduced over time, redesigning the areas that had been lost and enhancing the many fine trees, some dating from the park’s origins and others planted later but well established and in harmony with the “romantic” greenery that characterises the whole space. The historical and botanical study guided the planting of the new species, which were combined with the existing trees retained as part of the original design. The result of the study and the new design is a unified setting with many new functions and ways to use the park, meeting the client’s requests while always respecting the park’s history.
