Parco Arnichi, an example of a river park
The overall aim of the project was to highlight the importance of conserving woodland and wetlands from a modern perspective of environmental enhancement. The green belt involved lies on the edge of Brembate, forming the natural link between the village and the countryside. The project designed and delivered a series of objectives:- landscaping part of the unpaved areas next to Parco Arnichi so that visitors can stop there;
- soil bioengineering works that regenerated the lake used for sport fishing;
- creating small wooded areas, partly by supplementing the existing vegetation with small hedges and new trees;
- clearing the existing woods and enriching them with valuable species.
All these works aim to create an “ecological corridor” offering ideal conditions for local wildlife to survive and thrive; the scheme also regenerated the area and opened it up to the public through self-guided trails and environmental education and interpretation routes.
