Nature trail between two rivers: the Po and the Ticino

The project covered the areas north of Via Rotta in the municipality of Travacò Siccomario, namely:

- the small embankment along Via Colombo, which continues east to join Via Rotta;
- the asphalt area and the green area at the end of Via Colombo;

and, in the municipality of Pavia, the areas north of the Gravellone canal and some areas to the west and north belonging to the Vignazza farm. The new cycle and pedestrian path therefore runs through both municipalities: after crossing the Gravellone canal, it continues in two directions:

- turning west along the flat land beside the canal, then running straight north before joining Via Vignazza just before the irrigation ditches along the road;
- turning east, still following the canal, to the existing wetland, an excellent spot for observing wildlife, where bird-watching facilities (wetland hides) have been installed.

The project paid particular attention to fitting the trail into its delicate landscape setting: the area is under environmental protection, and all paving and furniture are made of ecological, environmentally friendly materials. The trail is also equipped for visually impaired visitors, with tactile maps and Braille signs.
