Regeneration of the Borgo Loreto neighbourhood – Participatory design

The works in the neighbourhood were drawn up with the involvement and participation of the residents: the project grew out of participatory design between citizens and the municipality. In preparing it, there was no sharp separation between the study phase and the problem-solving phase, but rather a continuous overlap and dialogue between the two. First of all, the need for a safe neighbourhood was met by creating spaces that everyone can use, with a high standard of urban quality. In this way, from north to south, we identified the play space in Piazzale Prato Verde, the space for meeting and socialising in Piazza Patrioti and, finally, the place of mobility and of the neighbourhood’s opening towards the city in Piazza Cisalpina. Within this new urban layout, the cycle and pedestrian path links and connects these places and forms their backbone.
