Regeneration of the cemetery paving
The works involved new paving for part of the main avenue of Chiari cemetery and the renewal of the planting along it. The paving matches the existing paving at the main entrance, made of slabs of Arenaria serena, Botticino, porphyry and Rosso Verona blocks: apart from the last, considered unsuitable because it is very porous, these stones were used again in the new paving, which covers the first stretch of the avenue and the small central square. Redrawing the edges of the central space produced a regular small square based on the two main diagonals of the family chapel; it connects with the avenue paving by continuing the lozenge pattern into the square, clearly reaffirming the central position of the chapel. As for the planting, the existing ground-cover shrubs were removed and the laurel hedges replaced with box hedges.
