Regeneration of Viale Sant’Eusebio and Via Nazario Sauro

The regeneration covered Viale S. Eusebio up to the square in front of the Monumental Cemetery, and the cycle and pedestrian path along Via Nazario Sauro. It involved rebuilding the central avenue and the footpaths and planting about seventy new trees. The scheme is characterised by an “entrance square” at the junction with Via Nazario Sauro and four “small squares” that counterpoint the straight line of the avenue, anticipating the square at the cemetery entrance. In Via Nazario Sauro, the old asphalt was replaced with porphyry setts, alternating with asphalt binder at the junctions; these widenings are designed to slow traffic, helped by the difference in level created between the road and the cycle and pedestrian path. Planting works were also carried out, replacing dead trees and planting evergreen shrubs in the roadside bed.
