Library Park
The project, broader than what was actually built, covered the regeneration of the whole area running from the edge of the sports grounds to the provincial road, alongside Palazzo Dandolo and the municipal library. Besides relocating all the war memorials of Adro’s veterans’ associations, it proposed restoring the gardens and the avenue leading to the Palazzo, replacing the existing asphalt with formal patterns of box hedging. The first phase relocated the memorials, bringing them together in the square in front of the library loggia, known as Palazzo del Galetèr, where our design replaced the existing paving with a new garden. Box hedges and new trees were planted to create a sheltering “pergola” structure, so that visitors can also use the area for study and reading. The paving on the two sides next to the library building is sawn-finish grey stone, while the rest of the garden is surfaced with crushed gravel with flush kerbs and paths in the same stone. Another significant change was lowering the wall around the new Garden of Remembrance to the current ground level, so that people walking along the road below can see the library building.
