Pope John XXIII Park

The park lacked a significant central gathering point, a problem solved by building wooden pergolas around the kiosk bar. This makes the seating area more welcoming and emphasises the central role of the small kiosk, which also serves as a point of supervision. The project replaced the existing asphalt squares with a single play area with special impact-absorbing surfacing. Particular attention was paid to easy access for maintenance and emergency vehicles, with a driveway linking Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII with Via Bietti. This porphyry-paved avenue is the central axis from which the coloured-asphalt footpaths branch off. The existing trees of little value made way for new planting of tall trees.
